Murder Haunts the Attic

Murder Haunts the Attic

By Kristine Frost

The Fire Marshal from Hell
A Million Dollars in Counterfeit Money
A Smell That Could Curl Rylly’s Hair

Rylly Barr had hoped for a calm summer so she could finish up phase 2 of her Haunted Island Resort. But her hopes are dashed when Gus ends up in the pet hospital and she receives a letter from the state Fire Marshal informing her that he will be visiting a week from the date of the letter.

She and Kohler are stunned when the Fire Marshal shows up the next day, informing them that he is closing down their resort if they don’t have the attic completely de-junked in three days.
The attic is stuffed with boxes that neither of them remember seeing. The furniture that was neatly piled at one end is now in the center and a jumbled mess and there is a smell that tells Rylly that some small animal got in and died. Kohler tracks the smell to a small room made by empty boxes. He doesn’t find a small animal, he finds a dead girl with marks on her throat.

As the bodies begin to pile up, Rylly must outwit a determined Fire Marshal and equally determined homicide investigators before either she or Kohler become body number three. Can Rylly and Gus take on a determined killer and win or will they be the stars at the next funeral?
