Death by Fine Print: A Small-Town Cozy Mystery (Penny Monroe Cozy Mysteries)
By Diane Scotland
Penny Monroe has made plenty of questionable decisions before breakfast. Hiring a stranger without a résumé might be one of them.
Cora Vass walks into The Perk Up looking for a job, and Penny hires her on instinct. Cora makes a mean espresso, Mabel approves, and everything seems fine, until a man in a gray windbreaker starts asking questions about the café’s newest employee.
Then he turns up dead in the alley.
Unfortunately, he’s Cora’s former boss, and she has plenty of reasons to want him gone.
Sheriff Poole would prefer Penny stick to coffee and leave the investigating to her. Penny fully intends to respect that request.
Mostly.
But as old secrets begin surfacing around Hatchwell Hollow, Penny and Mabel discover this murder started long before Cora walked into the café.
Denny Frick came back to settle the past.
Someone made sure he never got the chance.
