Murder on the Docket: He has a doggie door. (Canine Courthouse Mysteries)

By Nina Hunt

Maggie Bennett wanted coffee. Toby wanted a murder investigation.

When a prominent developer is found dead inside his locked courthouse office, the impossible crime leaves everyone baffled. The door was locked. The window was closed. Nobody could have escaped.

Toby isn’t impressed.

Maggie’s determined canine companion spots what everyone else missed: dark mud on the victim’s expensive shoes.

There’s just one problem.

Everything outside the courthouse is bone-dry.

Now Toby is dragging Maggie—and skeptical attorney Jack Sinclair—through courthouse gossip, suspicious land deals, and an abandoned greenhouse. But the closer they get to explaining that mud, the more nervous someone becomes.

Evidence disappears. A warning arrives. And suddenly, they aren’t just investigating a killer.

They’re being hunted by one.

Jack calls it Maggie’s “crazy dog theory.”

Maggie insists it’s Toby’s theory.

Either way, they’d better solve it fast—because something far more dangerous may be next on the docket.
